Contract for design, build, finance, operate and maintain a new light rail line (CBD and South East Light Rail) and operate and maintain an existing line (Inner West Light Rail).
Contract for design, construction, finance, operate and maintain a new light rail line that will have a double track 12-km route (“CBD and South East Light Rail”) and operate and maintain a 13-km existing line (Inner West Light Rail).
The new infrastructure will have 19 stops, a bridge over Eastern Corridor Highway and a section in a tunnel (cut and cover), Control Centre facilities, garages for light rail trains, substations and other buildings along the line. The project incorporates the relocation of important infrastructure services and an extensive urban regeneration.
It will run every four minutes during peak hours in the CBD and every eight minutes from Randwick and Kingsford. Each service will carry up to 450 passengers, the equivalent of nine standard buses.
AIM
It will be a critical element for Sydney’s public transport system, helping to reduce traffic congestion.
BENEFIT
Generating economic activity estimated at AU$4,000 million and the creation of 10,000 jobs.
AWARDS
The contract includes the design, construction and financing of a 42-km highway and the subsequent operation of 74 km, consisting of the new section and an existing 32-km section.
