- ACCIONA completes the ...
Last August 19th the Regional Government Delegate in Almeria, Gracia Fernández, the Territorial Delegate of the National Ministry of Works in Almeria, Joaquín Jiménez, the managing director of the Public Works Agency Francisco Pérez and the manager of the joint venture Agustín Rojas (ACCIONA) visited the section of the Roquetas del Mar bypass project constructed by ACCIONA. During the visit they observed some of the final touches to the work, including the passage of vehicles over the structure at Las Losas and load trials.
This new high-capacity section, part of the Roquetas de Mar bypass, is the first awarded to ACCIONA in the project and is the biggest in the new highway. It gives continuity to the initial two kilometers already in service from the Autovía del Mediterráneo (Mediterranean Highway) to the road to Las Losas. Its completion means a flow of an average 18,500 vehicles a day while reducing transit times in the process.
From among the most complex structures in the project, we would highlight a 164-meter-long bridge that required the installation of 20 prefabricated girders and special engineering work using high-tonnage cranes. The result is a five-span structure that is long enough to reduce the impact on existing buildings located around the road link.
In the project ACCIONA Construcción has once again applied the most advanced and environmentally-friendly technologies to all the aspects of the construction process while facilitating communications between people at the same time.
