Concessions business line has been operating in Canada since 2008 with two projects awarded (A-30 Highway and Royal Jubilee Hospital). Since then, it has carried out some important PPP projects throughout the country, with major projects such as the Rt. Hon. Herb Gray Parkway in Windsor, Southeast Stoney Trail in Calgary and Fort Saint John Hospital. In all of these, it benefited from the experience and financial soundness of a company that is a world leader in the infrastructures sector.
The contract includes the design, construction and financing of a 42-km highway and the subsequent operation of 74 km, consisting of the new section and an existing 32-km section.
The Rt. Hon. Herb Gray Parkway, formerly named Windsor-Essex Parkway project is part of the proposed plan to connect Highway 401 in Ontario to Interstate 75 in Michigan, by way of a new Canadian inspection plaza and bridge crossing being constructed by the Federal Government in West Windsor.
Through a public-private partnership, the project is an impressive example of a well-executed social infrastructure deployed through innovative, sustainable building practices.
The Royal Jubilee Hospital was awarded the “Best International PPP Project" at the Public Private Finance Awards in 2010, and the "Silver Award for Project Financing" by the Canadian Council of Public Private Partnerships National Awards for Innovation and Excellence, 2009.
